Bodge job for so many reasons plus welding on the lathe is stupid, arcs between the bearings will knacker the thing in short order

That's going to be a bearing eater.

The original diameter was thicker, compared to the repaired diameter which is thinner, thats not good, thinner is weaker and will be the fail point when it happens. Also the repaired part needs to get balanced properly, which was not done. A new part would have been better, for durability, reliability, and cost. The amount of time spent on repairing it, would have been labor intensive to pay in North America, likely cost as much as new part or greater than new part. I guess if its a rare part or you are far away from home, and you have to get it back home, then I suppose you could do this to get back on the road, as a form of emergency repair., until a new part can be gotten. Still its good to see something get repaired.

this crankshaft will make 5 turns, maybe 4 and destroy the rest of the engine. Never seen such rubbish!!!!

This is Hit and Trail. The welding is only to the extent of outer circumference. Most of the welding was removed while tooling to bring finish. This will prove to be a futile exercise.

The annealing of the shaft in order to machine it has ruined the hardening of the bearing surface. Also the crank shaft won't be true anymore. However the slow old chuffer of an engine will live again for a while until the other end of the shaft breaks at least. 😅

Two problems I see, which is you didn't "V" shape your sectional piece so your weld would be deeper into the piece, then you didn't re-harden the whole piece, and third thing is you didnt use a 2,000 grit sand paper to polish the bearing journals.

Actual shop, painted walls, clean machine, clean hands. Wow. That kid on the bike is going to get a mouthful from the boss with that invoice.

It's going to leak, but maybe you can get the machine working one more day or two, until you get the actual piece..

Wasn't even "broken" it's clearly cut with an angle grinder.

Repair is not recommended, however he should have assembled it cold by nitrogen and other warm.
